I am excited to start trying some flexible seating options in our classroom! The goal behind this is for students to discover which working conditions are best for them. While I work on acquiring more options and decide which options the students like the best, students will be able to purchase a rental of the available options at the class store. Students are required to sign and agreement before using any of the flexible seating options.
Classroom Economy
In room 17 we participate in a classroom economy. Students earn money for good behavior, being on time, turning in work on time, being on task, making improvements in class and more! Once a week, students will have an opportunity to spend the money they have earned at the class store.
Scholastic book Orders
Scholastic Book Orders provide an easy and relatively cheap way for your student to acquire new books for your 4th grader. Orders also provide me with points to get new books and supplies for our class! I will send home ads about once a month but if you order online, there are many more options! If you order books online, please use the following class code, then email me that you have placed an order. Soon thereafter I will submit the order and send the books home with your student when they have arrived!
Students will be supplied with a Take Home Folder that will also act as their planner. Students will use this planner page to keep track of assignments. It is expected that students take home their folder and bring it back to school every day. Please check these folders daily and watch for important notes.
With the new grading system, only assessments will be on their grade. Therefore, there will be a stamp at the top of the page to help you determine if the assignments coming home are practice or on their grade. Please refer to the key below.
Assignment Codes:
Fun, colorful, positive stamp -- Not on Gradebook
"ENTERED" stamp with 1,2,3, or 4 -- In Gradebook
It is important to look over all assignments, even the practice pages, because this will help you understand how your student is doing on each standard.
